The latest BMW 2 Series variant, the Gran Coupe, is now the brand’s smallest fastback model. Featuring BMW’s front-wheel drive architecture and styling that is polarizing, to say the least, this is a controversial niche for BMW to enter, however, there's no denying that from a strategic perspective at least, this may be a masterstroke from the Bavarian marque.
The Gran Coupe’s only natural rivals come in the form of the Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG CLA and A-Class sedan models while and Audi A3 sedan is on the way too as the demand for premium saloon cars appears to be quite a bit stronger than initially anticipated.

Model range
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is available with three engine options, including a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol, a 2.0-litre turbodiesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the flagship M235i. All models make use of an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending power to the front wheels aside from the range-topping all-wheel drive M235i.
Aside from the flagship, both the petrol and diesel model are available in three trim derivatives that include standard, Sport Line and M Sport.
