How long should you prepare for your driver’s license test?

Preparing to take the drivers test will be different for everyone. Not everyone’s skill set is on the same level, while some will find navigating the yard and road tests easy, others will struggle with parking and hill-stops.
The key is to recognize your weak points and concentrate on those - your driving instructor should know this and will get you to practice these elements.
Depending on skill and ability it can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months to properly prepare for your driver’s test.
For now, the Department of Transport has no stipulated amount of lessons as a prerequisite, but before taking the test, it does help to take as many lessons as you need.
The key to passing first time out is practice and memory. As soon as you feel ready to take on the test and you are confident that you will pass, you should go and do it. Your driving instructor will also be able to offer advice. Sending you if you are not ready, will make him (or the driving school) look bad.
