How do you prepare for your driver’s license test?

Probably one of the biggest stepping-stones in life is obtaining your driver’s license. It is a nerve-wracking experience that leaves many potential drivers failed at the testing station, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Preparation is key to passing the test, if you are confident it will show and the test will be easier.
So how do you prepare for your big day?
Start by ensuring that all your bookings and requirements for the day are taken care of. Make sure you have all the copies of your ID, learners and photos done and ready for when you pass. For more info about what you need to take along with you, as well as the entire journey of getting a license, we recommend a visit to www.getyourdrivers.co.za .
Driving lessons are recommended, as the K53-method is very specific and you will need to adhere to its rules and regulations. Take as many lessons as you need to, until you know that you will pass easily. Don’t let the instructor force you into doing the test if you don’t feel you are ready. Chances are he would rather encourage you to take more lessons.
Practice the yard maneuvers at your leisure, drive as often as you can convince a licensed driver to get in a car with you. Practice the K53 test all the time, so that you don’t develop bad driving habits - practice makes perfect. Did we mention practice?
Visualize the test in your mind, do the 360-degree check mentally, go through the yard maneuver’s in your mind. Try to plot out the test as it will happen on the day - see yourself passing. This builds confidence and takes the edge off the stress on the day.
Before your test day, get plenty of sleep, don’t go partying until the early hours! If you are well-rested, you will be able to concentrate and be less likely to make a critical mistake.
On the day of your test, DON’T be late! Be methodical, and take it slowly (but not too slowly). The key is confidence in your ability! And if you don’t make it the first time? Just keep on trying until you do.
