Honda HR-V vs Nissan Juke vs Renault Koleos: which one has the best infotainment system?

We take a look at the latest infotainment system of the Honda HR-V, the NissanConnect system from the Nissan Juke and the R-Link 2 in the Renault Koleos.

 

Honda HR-V - 3.5/5

When Honda refreshed its HR-V urban crossover late last year, the HR-V's full-featured touchscreen-based infotainment system became standardised across the range. The system now features a 6.8-inch touchscreen display, which replaces the 5-inch screen previously fitted to the Comfort version.

The infotainment system embraces an extensive function and features list which includes Bluetooth-based hands-free telephony and audio streaming, extended connectivity via USB and HDMI, and smart device screen mirroring for access to device-specific functions such as video and photo files, as well as GPS navigation. Screen mirroring occurs through Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

The system also incorporates an FM Stereo/AM radio tune and multi-speaker sound with multi-function controls, which makes using the system both safe and intuitive. It is also said to be more responsive than Honda's older Connect system.

In the case of the 1.8 Elegance model, a rear-view parking camera is linked to the parking sensors to make reverse parking more convenient.

 

Nissan Juke - 3/5

The Nissan Juke features the NissanConnect infotainment system on a 5.8-inch touch-screen display and audio system. The system links to your mobile apps, music, and information bringing together everything you love. 

With the available iPod/USB input and AUX input, you can listen to your own music. Plug in your iPod or another portable MP3 player through the USB port and control it through the audio controls. Or connect your device via Bluetooth streaming for music without wires. Aside from streaming music, the Bluetooth connectivity also allows for hands-free calling.

The system also features an advanced navigation system with the latest maps, the most direct routes and the smartest way to get to your destination on time.

 

Renault Koleos - 4/5

The all-new Koleos offers an extra-large capacitive touchscreen (up to 8.7-inch) with exclusive Renault R-Link 2 functionality for an enriched driving experience. There's also voice recognition for onboard GPS navigation, hands-free telephony and radio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow compatibility for smartphone mirroring and there's a Rear Parking Camera for ease of manoeuvrability. Navigation comes standard in Dynamique models and Expression models are fitted with a slightly smaller 7-inch screen. Some users have described the system as difficult to use while driving, while others have said the system doesn't have the most intuitive setup either.
