Haval H6 C vs Hyundai Tucson vs Mazda CX-5: which one is the best value for money?
Haval H6 C vs Hyundai Tucson vs Mazda CX-5: which one is the best value for money?
By Farzana Chaumoo
A generic comparison between these 3 SUVs.
Practicality
The H6 C has a very comfortable and spacious cabin with soft-touch finishes all around. It is also very pleasant to drive long distance. In the boot, you're getting 1146-litres of utility space when the rear seats are folded flat, but boot space of 247 litres is little. There is plenty of space for front passengers and plenty of leg room for rear passengers. The driver's seating position allows for a good view of the road too.
The CX-5 has the biggest boot here and it's also three litres bigger than it's predecessor. Its rear seats are adjustable and fold flat. Next to European rivals, the CX-5 would fall short for interior storage but it does, however, have a few clever hidden compartments. Front passengers are spoilt for space while rear passenger legroom is sufficient and headroom is plenty.
It's clear the Tucson has a usability focus on the inside. It's not as stylish on the inside as it is on the outside though. It's reasonably spacious, offers plenty of headroom and legroom, but lacks a few cubbyholes. The doors open nice and wide, so entry and exit to both the front and rear of the cabin are easy.

Performance and Economy
The H6 C puts out 140 kW maximum power and 310 Nm of maximum torque from its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which is mated to a six-speed dual clutch transmission. Which are good figures for a medium-sized family SUV. The engine has a decent-enough punch to it, inspiring confident driving, however, it does feel sluggish on occasion, not what you would expect for 140 kW. Real world fuel figures on the H6 are also higher. For this reason, we'll give it to the Tucson. Martin Pretorius has also praised Tucson's performance. Haval's vehicles definitely offer customers who want a lot of car for their cash a reasonable alternative and considerable value for money. They are well specced and affordable but it does compete in a tight segment.
