Introduced locally in 2017, the current generation of Ford's Fiesta has not been as successful as its predecessor, likely due to pricing pressure and intense competition within its segment. As a result of the lower sales volumes, Ford has slowly reduced the number of variants available in the local Fiesta range to just four, with one engine option and two gearboxes being available. 1.0T manual
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine available in the Fiesta range has won many international engine awards and was one of the first downsized petrol engines to proliferate the local market. The engine produces 92kW and 170Nm of torque, allowing for a claimed fuel consumption figure of 4.3 L/100km, a 0-100km/h sprint time of 9.9 seconds as well as a deeply impressive CO2 emissions figure of 97g/km in the six-speed manual models.
1.0T auto
The same engine powers the automatic models in the Fiesta range, and also produces the same 92kW and 170Nm of torque but the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic makes it less efficient, with a claimed fuel consumption figure of 5.2 L/100km and a CO2 emissions figure of 122g/km.
