Micromobility has been in the spotlight in South Africa as of late, with the advent of e-Commerce, not just for consumer delivery but also on the Business-to-Business end to improve efficiency and address last-mile transport.

Fiat Professional has now released the Tris for the African and Middle Eastern markets, the first three-wheeled electric vehicle. The Tris was designed in Italy and is being manufactured in Morocco. Designed to be a lightweight last-mile delivery vehicle. It's aimed towards B2B micromobility in urban areas, where efficiency is key. The Tris name draws inspiration from its three-wheel design, LED light arrangement and two-tone colour scheme.

Other features include a 5.7-inch digital cluster with a distance-to-empty gauge. The Tris also meets European Homologation standards, featuring three-point seatbelts, front LED lighting with low-beams activated upon ignition, a reverse buzzer, and a windshield washer tank.
The Tris would fare well in South Africa, given initiatives like Uber Electric. The infrastructure is in place for it to function, though the ability to DC charge would also be beneficial. The Tris is set to launch in Q4 2026, and pricing is yet to be confirmed.
