Is the Volkswagen Amarok a good car?

The Volkswagen Amarok is a safe and reliable car that combines the comforts and amenities of an SUV with the utility of a pickup. So for us, yes the Volkswagen Amarok is indeed a good car.

Who is the Volkswagen Amarok a good car for?

The Volkswagen Amarok is a good car for people that want to take advantage of having both a compliant and comfortable experience in the city while also having the ability to tackle the rough stuff confidently. With the large load bay and torquey engine, owners can even transport larger items and use the Amarok as a business vehicle.

Is the Volkswagen Amarok a good first car?

Although in terms of safety and capability, the Volkswagen Amarok can easily be described as a good first car. The price tag might be too big of a hurdle for some new vehicle buyers, and if that is not a problem, its large proportions will take some time to get used to, especially in the parking lot.

Is the Volkswagen Amarok a good family car?

The Volkswagen Amarok offers seating for five and has ample leg- and headroom for the rear occupants. The large load bay with either a cover or canopy also makes transporting large volumes of luggage a breeze. Customers, however, should note that all derivatives of the Volkswagen Amarok come installed with four airbags all featured for the front occupants with none at the rear.

Is there a Hybrid Volkswagen Amarok?

In the current Amarok line-up, there is no hybrid derivative, however, with a brand new model close on the horizon, we could perhaps see the German automaker incorporate mild-hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, we will have to wait and see.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewers opinion

"It is big, brash and expensive but being the only one of its kind it can afford to be. The Amarok Extreme will be more at home in the city than climbing a mountainside which makes the perfect crossover point from lavish SUV to lavish workhorse."

Interior

What is the Volkswagen Amarok like inside?

While those who opt for the Volkswagen Amarok V6 in Extreme guise will be treated to Nappa leather interior and a host of standard creature comforts. However, while the dashboard is clutter-free and fitment is good, items such as the infotainment screen is a bit dated.

Style

On the face of it, the Volkswagen Amarok is still a good looking pickup. And although the update that took place in 2017 saw many new elements introduced such as a restyled bumpers and newly designed headlamps, the overall design is still becoming quite dated.
