Is the Nissan Qashqai a good car?

Nissan's Qashqai has been as important for the mainstream adoption of the crossover SUV as the Navara was for thrusting the double cab LCV into the luxury segment. Its agreeable disposition and easy-to-use controls helped make it one of the best-selling models for the brand with over 2 million units produced in its Sunderland plant.

Families and individuals alike will gravitate toward what the Qashqai has to offer. Ample space and seating for 5, with a raised driving position and increased ground clearance, all make for an excellent commuter and lifestyle companion.

Is the Nissan Qashqai a good first car?

The new, third-generation Nissan Qashqai is equipped with several driver assistance systems as part of their Nissan Intelligent Mobility program and the latest ProPILOT assistance ensure that even inexperienced drivers will be safe and manage to negotiate even the tightest confines in the Nissan Qashqai.

The Qashqai makes an excellent family car with a boot of 480 litres and more than enough head and legroom in the rear. USB ports allow for devices to remain charged and the integrated safety system ensures that all the precious cargo is looked after — the Qashqai scores a full 5-stars in the Euro NCAP test.

Is there a Hybrid Nissan Qashqai?

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewer's opinion

"It's no sports car but has absolutely no problem sticking with traffic and carrying out overtaking manoeuvres. The ride is rather firm though, despite the generous tyre profile but not to the point of being jarring or uncomfortable. It's a compliant suspension setup nevertheless."

What is the Nissan Qashqai like inside?

The top-spec Qashqai is extremely well appointed and trimmed in Nappa leather with high-quality trimmings and a stylish design. The newer model presents itself as a more mature, elegant offering but without compromising on practicality and functionality. Controls are simplified, but intuitive and overall visibility is excellent.

Style

The Qashqai takes a modern style approach by incorporating fluid sheet metal, punctuated by sharp creases and exaggerated design cues. A large, V-shaped grille dominates the front end and angular taillight are highlighted by razor-sharp swage lines at the rear, the tailgate sporting an inverted V to complement the theme.

Tech features

  • Nissan Intelligent Mobility features
  • Memory seats with heating and massage function
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Two-tone interior
  • 12.3-inch infotainment system
