Is the Fiat Panda a good car?

The Fiat Panda for the longest time was a people mover designed for the city. A City SUV if you will. The Panda embodies the Fiat personality in a tidy shell while also being quite capable with a 4x4 option available. Functional, fashionable simplicity is the name of the game here and that's what makes the Fiat Panda a good car.

Who is the Fiat Panda a good car for?

The Fiat Panda is a good car for a small family that needs a runabout for the city. It would also be a good car for a new driver that tends to transport family and friends frequently but needs something easy and small enough to drive. Maybe you're in a rural area and you need a small crossover with 4x4, the Panda will work for you.

Is the Fiat Panda a good first car?

The Fiat Panda will make for a very good first car as something different to the norm. It's compact yet practical, small and easy to drive and fast enough to get you into trouble. If you're a fashionista, you'll appreciate it.

Is the Fiat Panda a good family car?

The Fiat Panda will make for a decent city crossover but mostly for smaller families. The boot space is on the smaller side at 225 litres of capacity but can expand to 870 litres when the rear seats are folded down. Perhaps it would function better as a school-run vehicle.

Is there a Hybrid Fiat Panda?

There was no Fiat Panda hybrid for sale in South Africa.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewer's opinion

The Panda Cross is a city car that has been afforded off-road capability. Just because it can, doesn’t mean that it should. It’s a brilliant little package for running around the suburbs and doing mall runs where you may need to park on the pavement. It’s cool and funky and I can see the appeal geared towards a younger crowd. Although not for me, I can see where Fiat has aimed the Panda Cross and I hope to see more of them on our roads.

What does it look like?

Exterior

Interior

What is the Fiat Panda like inside?

The Fiat Panda inside employs a boxy motif in its interior design. From the air vents to the button arrangements and even down to the gear knob, the theme is a rounded-off square. The execution of this is tasteful with the clever interior space. The seats are fabric woven with graphical inserts that look and feel robust with some of the rough and tumble that comes with a runabout car. If you're a fashionista, you'll love this car's interior.

Style

The boxy theme from the interior spreads to the exterior of the Panda, giving a gentle look to the car rather than being sporty and aggressive. The vehicle's front fascia is bright and happy with the rounded-off square theme spreading to the side and rear fascias of the car.
