Who is the BMW iX a good car for?

Is the BMW iX a good first car?
The BMW iX is fitted with a host of driver aids including reverse cameras, park distance control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and several other driving assistance systems. Families will love the BMW iX. Rear space is rather generous with ample head and legroom. The 500-litre boot will swallow just about anything you throw at it and the fold-down seats with ski flap further extend the loading solutions. Rear passengers are treated to their own air conditioning controls and two USB-C ports are fitted in the backrest of each front seat to charge devices on the go.

What’s it like to drive?
Silent, smooth, and luxurious. The electric nature of the BMW iX lends itself to silky smooth driving with a compliant suspension and more than enough power reserves. The 76.6 kWh battery in the iX xDrive40 will yield over 400km range from a single charge and the 150 kW charging system allows for faster charging when coupled to a DC fast charger.
The simplistic, minimalist interior is free from clutter and distraction and creates a cabin that feels bright and spacious, all while being trimmed in the best upholstery.
Reviewer's opinion.
The wonderfully alien interior and exterior are complemented by a serene driving experience devoid of many sounds, unless the vehicle is in Sport mode, in which case a Jetsons-esque whirr can be heard. The cabin intrusion, road noise and general refinement on our pot-hole infested roads was commendable, particularly when you hop out of a car with an internal combustion engine and back into the iX, where the sound of silence is no longer restricted to Simon and Garfunkel. - Sean Nurse, AutoTrader

What is the BMW iX like inside?
BMW deliberately went with the minimalist approach, moving as much as they could into the large, curved infotainment screen. The dashboard is devoid of clutter and wrapped in leather with metallic accents and crystal-like switchgear for the seats, volume and iDrive controller. The two-spoke, hexagonal steering wheel seems odd at first but feels great in the hands, your hand falling naturally in the 10-2 positions.
Supple upholstery and comfortable seats mean that you'll be able to spend extended amounts of time in the cabin without tiring. The electrochromic roof is a lovely touch; this full-glass, panoramic roof isn't equipped with a shade but will haze over and block out the sun at the press of a button.
Style
The BMW iX carries a polarizing design with numerous curves, creases and hard edges. When selected in the lighter colour, the lower sections remain black creating an appealing contrast. The large, oversized kidney grille houses the sensors and radars and initially seems out of place, especially on an electric car, but this theme grows on you. We're particularly fond of the rear end. The BMW iX is the size of an X5 in length and width and stands as tall as a BMW X6. Wheel size is that of the X7 though.
