BMW South Africa pulls the wraps off of the new G80 M3 Competition and G82 M4 Competition. We flew to the Western Cape to sample these M-Division machines both on the road and on a private testing facility.
Powered by a 375 kW and 650 Nm turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six, the G8X M cars rocket to 100 km/h from a standstill in only 3.9-seconds and with the Driver's Package will top out at a limited 290 km/h.
Both the M3 Comp and M4 Comp send power to the rear wheels only (for the time being) through a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. We would have loved a manual gearbox as well, but that is reserved for the tamer M3/M4 and not the Competition models.
***We apologise for the poor audio quality - this was quickly filmed while attending the local launch of the BMW M3 and M4***
