The Tonale is an important car for Alfa Romeo, offering the car-buying public the much-in-demand crossover body style option from the Italian brand. Let's compare the three specification levels within the Tonale line-up to determine which is best. 

Before we begin the comparison, it is essential to note that there are three Tonale models: Hybrid, Hybrid Speciale and Hybrid Veloce. All three models share the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with mild electrical assistance for outputs of 118kW and 240Nm, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Alfa Romeo Tonale 1.5T Hybrid Ti R779 900*

The base model Tonale comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, six airbags, climate control, a raft of semi-autonomous driver aids, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, partial cloth/artificial leather seats, USB ports (front + rear), LED headlights, fog lights and daytime running lights, and keyless entry/start, ISOFIX child seat anchor points, front and rear PDC with a reverse camera. There is also a 5-year/100 000km maintenance plan as standard.

 


Alfa Romeo Tonale 1.5T Hybrid Speciale R839 900*

The Speciale version of the Tonale gets the same features as the standard model but adds 20.0-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, partial suede/ artificial leather seats

Alfa Romeo Tonale 1.5T Hybrid Veloce R859 900*

Moving up to the flagship Voloce, and the body kit has been painted with black accents, there are column-mounted aluminium shift paddles, an adaptive Alfa Dual Stage Valve Suspension (DSV), and 19-inch alloy wheels.

 

So which one is the best?

When looking at the three Tonale models, it is clear that the base model offers the best package, with most of the features seen in the Speciale and Veloce, but for less money.
