5 things you need to know when buying used cars for sale in Silverton
This week we spoke with Ryno Lemmer, Dealer Principal from Sunward Motors Silverton to get his 5 top tips for anyone looking to buy a used car.
1. When is the best time to buy a used car?
“I don't think anytime is a better time to buy a used car, it all depends on what type of vehicle you want to buy and on the time of year, but mostly, anytime." said Ryno.

2. How many kilometres is too high for purchasing a used car?
“It depends on the vehicle, if it's a bakkie it's a different scenario to a smaller car. It will be different from car to car. For example, if you buy a sports car for yourself, you're not going to buy it at 200,000 or 300,000 km, but for a bakkie obviously, it's a different case, so it really does vary vehicle to vehicle.”
3. Is mileage more important than age, or is age more important than mileage when purchasing a used car?
“Well I would say with some ages of car, mileage wouldn't matter but in general I think mileage is more important.”
4. Is it true that it’s cheaper to buy a car with cash?
“No. Cash may be better because it is a faster deal but not for the dealer, it's not viable. As a dealer obviously you want them to do finance because you make more money on it.”
5. What are your final tips for anyone looking to buy a used car in Silverton?
“Look at where you're buying it from, what dealer they are, look at the history of the company itself, the view of the vehicle, has it been looked after, is the floor clean, is the dealership clean and are the people good. Those are all the things you should put together when buying a used car.”
