Buying a Car

1. When is the best time to buy a used car?

“The best time to buy a used vehicle would be at any time, for used cars, there's no specific time to actually buy because you're buying a car that's already a year or two years old.” Said Asif.

2. How many km's is too high for a used car?

“50,000km per annum is the right value to me, any over that and it's too much”

3. Is mileage more important than age, or is age more important than mileage when purchasing a used car?

“It is a mix of both, you need to look at multiple things when you buy a car, the brand, the mileage, the model, the age, the condition is most important.”

4. Is it true that it’s cheaper to buy a car with cash?

“When a customer pays with cash the dealership makes less money than if you finance it. So you probably get a better deal in terms of manual buying power and negotiating power, however, we look for customers that are financing because we get an opportunity to sell products like extended warranties and extended maintenance plans or service plans, and then we've got an opportunity to earn a kick back from the bank. So to answer your question, it's better for the dealership to connect to the customer, that's finance payment, but as a customer, cash has obviously got buying power.”

5. What are your final tips for anyone looking to buy a used car in Brits?

“When looking at a vehicle you should start off by looking at mileage and then services, finally the engine because the engine is the heart of the car. Without an engine the car is not going to move. The next thing would be to check the condition of the driver's seat. The driver seat tells me a lot when I evaluate the value. You know they've kept in good condition. So the driver's seat is the second one. Finally, just do a check of the overall condition, a thorough one too, don't be afraid to get your hands in there to check for grime. ”
