Buying a Car

1. When is the best time to buy a used car?

Diggy: “With the current situation going on with Covid-19, I’d say now is the best time to buy a used car.”

2. How many kilometres is too high for a used car?

“Around 150,000 km is when I personally would stop selling.”

3. Is mileage more important than age, or is age more important than mileage when purchasing a used car?

“I think the condition is more important. You can get a high-mileage car that has been immaculate and is ready for someone to purchase. You can get old cars with low mileage and new cars with high mileage so regardless, it's all about condition.”

4. Is it true that it’s cheaper to buy a car by cash?

“Yes, it is cheaper for the customer and it saves them a lot, but for us as a dealer, we prefer finance.”

5. What are your final tips for anyone looking to buy a used car in Durban?

“Look at the dealership you're purchasing from, the people that support that dealership etc. If their reputation is good then you can’t go wrong. Also brand awareness; you don't want to buy yourself a cheap new car when you could get a decent used car that's going to last you much longer. Finally, buy within your means, a lot of clients purchase what they want and not what they can afford which means they are in a bad position of not looking after the vehicle.”
