Buying a Car

1. When is the best time to buy a used car?

“I don't believe there is any good or bad time to buy a used vehicle. Everybody's circumstances are different, I get asked this question quite often. I guess December is a good time or January but in my opinion, I don't see any advantage buying a car in different months. It's really up to different circumstances.” Said Michael.

2. How many kilometres is too high for a used car?

“Well, 100,000Km seems to be the magical number that people are scared of in the car world, but I would probably say around 250,000km. If it has a good history and is well maintained then I would go for a higher mileage car.”

3. Is mileage more important than age, or is age more important than mileage when purchasing a used car?

“I personally would rather have a younger car with higher mileage than an older car with lower mileage.”

4. Is it true that it’s cheaper to buy a car with cash?

“No not at all, we welcome the partners that we have in the financial account, all the accounts who are our partners in this business give excellent service to pay us for the vehicle. So no, there is no advantage when using cash for both us and the customer.”

5. What are your final tips for anyone looking to buy a used car in Durban?

“So it would be to draw a line and to compare apples with apples. Obviously, you've got to look for an age of a vehicle and monitor the filter and the budget, so go online and do some research, and I would always exclude the cheapest few in that category, just be wary of those cheap ones that are 30-40% cheaper than all the others as there is a reason for that, you know? ”
