The current range of Abarth 595 derivatives was introduced in 2019. Based on the Fiat 500, the Abarth models add a variety of stylistic and performance upgrades to transform the city runner into a performance hatchback. Customers can opt between a three-door hatchback or a two-door convertible, both offering very similar performance figures.
Under the clamshell bonnet feature a 1.4-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 107 kW and 180 Nm of torque. Mated to the 5-automatic transmission, customers can expect a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.0 seconds and an average fuel consumption figure of 5.8 L / 100 km. The 5-speed manual gearbox configurations will sprint to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and return an average fuel consumption figure of 6.0 L / 100 km.
While the Abarth 595 offers striking stylistic elements on the exterior and interior as well as performance components fitted for the suspension and powertrain, there are still a few extras that could just bolster your ownership experience even more. Here are our five favourites that you should fit to your new Abarth 595.
1. Abarth Koni Suspension
While the standard items on the Abarth 595 are already much sportier than the suspension on the Fiat 500, with the Koni suspension kit you can take it even one step further. This kit promises to improve driving pleasure whilst increasing safety. It does so by offering better road holding, manageability and stability. Included in the purchase are Abarth Koni front and rear shock absorbers with FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) valves as well as lowered front and rear EIBACH springs. You even get to keep the branded crate the kit is shipped in.
2. Wheels
While the wheel design on the Abarth 595 is quite stunning, if you are looking for a style that is more performance themed, you can always fit the Esseesse wheel kit. The 17-inch alloy wheels come in either white or titanium grey and come with 205/40 R17 tyres and a tyre pressure monitoring kit.
3. Exhaust
What about the sound of the vehicle? Well for that Abarth has developed the Record Monza exhaust system. The exhaust system is able to create a powerful and aggressive sound because of the high-performance mufflers added to the system. It even offers Dual Mode technology so that when you are just cruising, the noise is not as intrusive but when you put the pedal to the metal, the racing noise escapes from the two exits at the rear.
4. Carbon facia
Seeing as though most of the above-listed extras improves the handling and sound of your Abarth 595, why not incorporate some of that sporty theme on the interior of the vehicle. Abarth offers a two-piece carbon fibre facia for the 595 derivatives. Not only does it give the interior that sporty look and feel but is also ultra-light.
5. Seats
While on the topic of saving weight, you can always swap out the standard seats in your Abarth 595 for lighter and more sporty units. Optionally available is Abarth Corsa by Sabelt seats which are available in "Formula 1" black tactical fabric as that used on Ferrari racing models or black Frau which takes shape as a mixture of perforated leather and Alcantara surfaces. Not only are these seats more performance inspired in its style but is also 10kg lighter than the standard seats.
