The South African motoring market is a strange one. On one hand, you have a slew of affordable city cars filtering in from India and on the other you have Audi deciding not to give us the A8, but rather only the S8. The D5 Audi S8 is set to break ground locally in early 2021 (restrictions permitting) and will be powered by a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 that produces 420 kW and 800 Nm. Mated to a quattro all-wheel-drive system, this powerplant is said to be able to rocket the 4-door sedan to 100 km/h from a standstill in only 3.8-seconds. The system is complemented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to aid in both performance and economy.
