The X1 was incredibly popular upon its release in South Africa. We have put together a list of five aftermarket accessories you should fit onto your X1 if they haven't already found a home on your model.

1. Aftermarket Infotainment

Although there isn't anything wrong with the X1's's standard infotainment system, there are many aftermarket options such as GPS enabled DVD head units and units with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, most of these units are a direct replacement with colour coded dashboard surrounds and integration into the existing steering wheel controls.

2. Utility Roof Racks

The X1 has roof rails as a standard fitment but these are generally not made for load holding. Fitting a set of aftermarket rails will enable you to fit items such as bike racks, ski boxes, luggage carriers and a host of other options. These units are usually quick release and can be removed when not in use.

3. TowBar

South Africans love to tow things. Whether it be a boat, a caravan, jet skis or just the small box trailer down to the coast, a tow bar is a must-have. Ensure that the unit you are buying is SABS and manufacturer approved and suitable for the load you intend to pull.

4. Nudge Bar

The nudge bar is also more of a style fitment item than an actual useable item. It is loosely fitted to the front clip and can aid in protecting the front bumper from light damage. It serves no protection in an actual crash but it looks cool and could probably save your radiator and air con elements should you unexpectedly meet up with some wildlife.

Always remember to make sure that any aftermarket fitment items are SABS and manufacturer approved so that you don't end up voiding your warranty.
