3 extras you should fit on a new Honda BR-V

It’s a bit surprising to find that there aren’t a great many extras available for the Honda BR-V. Perhaps it’s because utilitarian vehicles don’t get much love on the local aftermarket scene, or maybe it’s because the BR-V is only sold in a few world markets. Nonetheless, we delved into the internet to find and research some worthwhile accessories for a new BR-V. Be prepared to take its appearance and functionality to new heights!

 

1. Alloy wheels and better tyres

In Comfort- or Elegance trim, the BR-V rolls on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels, while the entry-level Trend spec makes do with steel wheels of the same size. Either way, the BR-V will look a whole lot more appealing, and exhibit improved road-holding, if you were to fit a set of sporty, upsized alloy wheels and tyres

We wouldn’t recommend going larger than 17-inch replacement units, however, as they may not fit inside the wheel arches, and may foul suspension- and brake components as well. Nonetheless, a set of 17-inch alloy wheels will make the BR-V look more assertive, and keep it glued to the road in the corners. Aftermarket suppliers such as Tiger Wheel and Tyre or  will be happy to help you select the perfect new rolling stock for your car.

 

2. Parking sensors

Even in top-spec Elegance trim, the Honda BR-V has to get by without parking assistance of any sort. Fortunately, many aftermarket shops supply retro-fit parking sensor kits, such as this one from AutoStyle (R450). 

It’s not too onerous to fit (though it will require removal of the rear bumper), and will help you to keep your BR-V’s rear end free of parking lot scuffs and scrapes. If you’re adventurous, you could install such a system in an afternoon, but if you’re not au fait with electrical gubbins, a panel beater will be able to fit it for you for a reasonable fee.

 

3. Trunk Tray (OEM)

Our last extra can be found at the Honda dealership, and doesn’t need any special tools or skills to install. This handy trunk tray will protect your BR-V’s boot floor against soiling and fluid spillage, and will keep the carpeting underneath neat and stain free as well. And, seeing as the BR-V really majors on practicality, this add-on will give your new BR-V even greater versatility and worry-free cargo carrying.
