New vs used BMW M3 : What are top 5 differences?

We take a look at the main differences between the previous and current versions of the reverent BMW M3 sedan.

The BMW M3 is a South African icon, it is a name with a storied history and continues to evoke images of smoking rear tyres and outright performance whenever those three letters are uttered. 

First produced in 1986 it is now into its 6th generation and still garners a following second to none. If you are looking at the latest generation, the F80, it has been produced since 2014 but a complete model overhaul is yet to be delivered as we are still waiting in anticipation for the brand new G20 version, due in 2021

There are number of generational facelifts available in the 6th gen F80 and that is the model we will be comparing.

 

So what's changed for the latest derivative?

 

1. LED rear tail lights

The latest generation has LED tail lights as standard fitment, replacing teh standard fitment of halogen from the previous gen.

 

2. Interior trim around AC vents

A small change that makes a rather large difference. The AC vents get a customizable trim line around the AC vents.

 

3. Ambient lighting

Ambient lighting now becomes standard fitment, brightening up the interior on the latest revision.

 

4. Tweaked ECU programming

BMW has gone through the engine tuning with a fine toothed comb and extracted more power and torque our of teh engine making use of clever software tweaks.

 

5. Revised suspension components

The most important upgrade is the revised suspension. Revised design and software updates make the latest version of the M# that much better to drive.
