Top Gear Festival comes back to Johannesburg!
Initially held at The Dome at Northgate in Johannesburg, the Top Gear Festival moved outdoors to Kyalami race track, and then held in Durban for the most recent years.
Plans were to hold it in Durban again this year, but have now changed – it is coming back to Johannesburg. Johannesburg was the first city outside the UK to host this event back in 2008, so it sees a welcome return to South Africa’s biggest most populated city.
And just as well – the outdoors thing didn’t really work as well. The venue of The Dome at Northgate has a great atmosphere, as it was created for shows and exhibitions.
The fireworks were bright and exciting (which could not be replicated outside) while the sounds of cars driving on the “stage” are much nicer to hear than when it was held outside. The slippery floor also made it ideal for some precision stunt driving.
Of course we’ll be entertained by the 3 men that have become international celebrities through Top Gear, the world’s most watch motoring (entertainment) show: Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will be there to entertain us through the car events at this must-experience festival.
Official ticket sales open on 20 March, for the event to be held on the weekend of 13 and 14 June 2015.
