The long-awaited much-hyped Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio premieres in South Africa

Alfa Romeo in South Africa hosted an exclusive premiere of the long-awaited much-hyped Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio at a gala event held in Sandton.

The event, hosted by FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) management and dealer representatives, was held exclusively for confirmed buyers of the new Giulia Quadrifoglio Launch Edition and Race Editions due for arrival on local shores in early 2017.  

First 46 orders snapped up in 3 days

The first 46 orders for Alfa Romeo of this remarkable new model were snapped up within 3 days of the order book opening at local dealerships.

The exclusive premiere comes almost 3 months ahead of the official launch of the entire Giulia range in South Africa, illustrating the importance of the first vehicles and their buyers.

Marco Melani, CEO of FCA South Africa, presented an audio-visual pre-amble to the red carpet live reveal of the car.  The red and silver decor added to the ambience of the event, along with 3 vintage Alfa Romeo cars on loan from members of the Alfa Romeo club.

Launch Edition and Race Edition

The Launch Edition and Race Edition cars are based on the top-of-the-range Giulia Quadrifoglio model, powered by the much-talked-about Ferrari-developed 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo powerplant, which produces 375kW at 6500 rpm of power, and 600Nm of torque from 2500 to 5000, driving the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission that returns performance figures of 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed governed to 307 km/h.  

Prices are expected to be R1.4m for the Launch Edition, putting it squarely in BMW M3 Competition / AMG C63 S sedan field of play (in price and performance) and R1.6m for the Race Edition.

Both the Giulia Launch and Race Editions are available in limited numbers, affording their buyers a unique and exclusive purchase experience well in advance of the rest of the range, expected in March 2017.  

The Race Edition features carbon-ceramic brakes that offer fade-free braking, as well as the unique tri-coat paint colour in Mineral White or Red Competition.

Complete Alfa Romeo Giulia range due March 2017

The complete Alfa Romeo Giulia range will feature the Giulia include the 2.0 petrol turbo 147kW/330Nm in 3 derivatives of base, Super and Super Lux, and also drive the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The full Alfa Romeo Giulia model line-up is expected locally from March 2017.
