The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque gets a visual refresh and new names - what are the prices+specs?

Is it the Range Rover Evoque’s time for a slight nip and tuck?

Can you believe the Range Rover Evoque has been with us since 2011?  The new Baby RR (Range Rover) saw a very successful worldwide launch, getting buyers all anxious in the waiting queue.

Now, in 2015, Range Rover Evoque is due for a make-over… just a mild one.  With a face as young and tight as this, it doesn’t need a full facelift.  Maybe just subtle new-look make-up.

Why the new look?

The key objectives of the updated Evoque are to maintain a fresh face for conquest customers (those who have not previously bought into the Land Rover brand, or who prefer ownership of a new Range Rover Evoque above any of its rivals) while also providing a credible rationale for loyal customers to re-purchase the updated model.

What are the main visual changes to Evoque?

The immediately most obvious differences between the Evoque the world has come to know and love and the Evoque facelift are the lights – the squinty headlights and pinched taillights remain, thankfully, though have been modernised to LED light lines, now forming distinct borders to create a more defined, crisper look both at the front and back.

The fog lamps moved upwards, from the middle of the front air intakes to the top.  Previously exclusive to Evoque coupé, the Evoque 5-door now gains the bonnet air vents.

New names to fall in line with other Land Rovers

Range Rover Evoque used the trim names Pure, Prestige and Dynamic.  Where Evoque Pure and Evoque Prestige were unique to this vehicle, Dynamic as a name also started being used on Range Rover Sport.

The Evoque will change from Pure to SE, and Dynamic to HSE Dynamic.  The more luxurious Autobiography name will remain, which filtered down from big Range Rover to Range Rover Sport and, quite recently before the facelift, into Range Rover Evoque.

Some spec alterations occur, with the shift from Pure to SE getting a rain sensor and front electrically-adjustable seats (which is a must-have for this stylish Range Rover).

The change from Dynamic to HSE Dynamic sees it benefit from a fresh style alloy wheel, more adjustments to the front electric seats, and the shopping-bag-carrying-friendly hands-free tailgate is fitted, which opens by sensing movement of your foot under/near the rear bumper.

Full adaptive LED headlights become an option on HSE Dynamic and Autobiography.

Evoque coupé keeps its unique body

Both 5-door and coupé body styles will be available.  Evoque coupé was an all-new idea – an SUV with sleek sloping-roof 2-door coupé body.  To this day, the only similar challenger is the MINI Paceman.

The Evoque coupé is, for now, only available in HSE Dynamic, with the hope that Evoque coupé Autobiography Dynamic with Si4 engine uprated to 213kW and 400Nm will still reach production.

No need for mechanical updates?

Evoque was the 1st production car range in the world to receive an automatic gearbox with 9 (nine) gears.  This it received early in 2014.

The engines are as before, with the simple option of petrol or diesel fuel – Si4 2.0 petrol or SD4 2.2 diesel.

Future power hopes?

If Jaguar Land Rover can fit a 3.0 V6 supercharged engine into the smallish engine bay of the Jaguar XE, then surely the engineers and marketers need to find a way to build an Evoque with a V6 engine? Consider the performance of the Range Rover Sport with 5.0 V8 Supercharged in Dynamic and SVR variants – a clear indication that Evoque has space for a hot Evoque version.

Convertible on the way

Yes, the Evoque convertible is confirmed for production, as reported here, and will follow the facelift looks.
