Before A4 turns the page, Audi SA is offering a run-out limited edition model, namely Audi A4 Sport Edition Plus.
Although the new Audi A4 has been shown, and markets abroad are taking orders for the new car, there is life left in the outgoing A4 range.
The Audi A4 in current guise was launched back in June 2008, then facelifted in 2012, so it lived an unusually long life especially for this – the compact executive sedan – market sector. The new Audi A4 will go on sale in South Africa early in 2016.
What is added in the Audi A4 Sport Edition Plus?
Most noticeable additional spec item is the set of 19-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels – these are familiar Audi wheels usually seen on hot S and RS derivatives. A distinctly sporty appearance is created by a new sport front bumper complimented by the S line rear bumper (and front + rear park distance control to protect these sporty bumpers) and sport side skirts, S line badging on the front fenders, finished off by a sporty subtle integrated boot spoiler. The interior receives a sport steering wheel.
High-gloss black replaces chrome for that black-bordered look, featuring blacked-out outlines for the grille, exterior mirrors, window surrounds and side sills. This contrasts against 4 paint colours from the Audi RS4, being Suzuka Grey, Daytona Grey, Sepang Blue and Misano Red.
What is the value proposition?
Audi says these extras amount to about R 65 000, though the price to customer is only R 8 250 extra. Sounds like a bargain.
The Sport Edition Plus is available on 2 models out of the Audi A4 range, being the A4 1.8T FSI SE and 2.0 TDI SE, both in a choice of manual or multitronic CVT auto.
About 1400 Sport Edition Plus units will be available from August 2015.
