Subaru BRZ gets improvements, and a Series.Yellow limited edition

Improved BRZ

Although the Subaru BRZ had a relatively short market life in South Africa from 2012 to 2015, its Toyota 86 twin car is still available in SA.  Elsewhere, the Subaru BRZ has just been revised.

The Subaru BRZ, as applicable to the North American market, gets improved performance and handling, a new optional Performance package, refined exterior design, standard LED headlights, and a new track mode.

Known for its low centre of gravity, the BRZ received attention to chassis and suspension, for improved responsiveness, stability and comfort.  The stability control system thresholds were raised, justifying the name change of the Sport mode to Track mode.

Power is up, and for manual transmission models a lower final drive ratio plus a standard Torsen limited-slip diff improve acceleration.

The C-shaped headlights are in new “kono-ji” style LED, and the front fascia is now sleeker.  A rear spoiler is now standard.

Performance package

The newly-optional Performance package is for drivers who demand more sports from their sports car:  available on the Limited spec with manual gearbox, this includes Brembo larger-caliper brakes, SACHS Performance shock absorbers, and unqiue black-painted wheels.

Series.Yellow

Like the Series.Blue before it, available on the earlier BRZ, the updated car is available for a limited time as Series.Yellow – as many sports cars are offered in yellow paint, the Subaru BRZ can now also be had in this colour.

The interior also has yellow borders for the black leather and Alcantara seats, which show yellow BRZ lettering in the backrests.  Yellow stitching throughout the cabin and yellow flashes in the seatback wings and door pulls are specific highlights.

The BRZ Series.Yellow is based on the Limited model with Performance package, as described above.
