Beetle Dune in South Africa

A new Bug has arrived (surprisingly soon) after its international debut – the Volkswagen Beetle Dune retail starts now in South African dealerships, following our recent report “Rugged old-school inspiration creates vibrant new Volkswagen Beetle Dune.”

Quick spec overview

What is the Beetle Dune?  Where the current 21st Century Beetle line-up in SA is made up of the Beetle Design, Club and Sport, the new Dune slots in as new top model. 

It is visually differentiated externally by its Canyon 18-inch alloy wheels, black wheel arch flaring, black protective side mouldings, parallel sports stripes with Dune line-through lettering, mirror housing painted Reflex silver, rear spoiler in duo-tone black and colour-code colour (black on top, colour-matched underside), sports style bumpers with silver underbody plate inserts, and front air intake in honeycomb structure.  The Sandstorm Yellow paint is exclusive to Beetle Dune.

The Beetle Dune interior gets a dashpad and upper door panels in Sandstorm Yellow, dark ceramic cloth and black leatherette seats with Curry Yellow contrast needlework.

For SA, the Dune will be available with the same 1.4TSI turbo engine as found in the Sport model, and the 7-speed DSG automatic gearing.
