SA’s best roadster is a Jaguar

• Jaguar F-Type wins People’s Wheels Awards Sporty Drop Tops category

• More than 60 000 votes cast in 2015 edition of online poll

Pretoria, November 2014 – South Africans have chosen the Jaguar F-Type convertible as their favourite open sports car in the 2015 People’s Wheels Awards, announced this morning at Montecasino, Johannesburg. South African voters in the online poll, which had more than 60 000 respondents, selected the F-Type as the best car in the “Sporty Drop Tops” category.

Available in three different models, the F-Type combines Jaguar’s 3.0-litre supercharged V6 and 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engines with a monocoque aluminium chassis to deliver a thrilling driving experience.

F-Type is no stranger to winning, either. In addition to being awarded 2013 World Car Design of the Year, it has been widely acclaimed by the motoring media and garnered accolades across the world, from England, to Germany, to Middle East, and now in South Africa.

“F-Type has enjoyed tremendous popularity in South Africa, since launch,” said Richard Gouverneur, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “This year it has been the best-selling sportscar in its category, showing that it’s not just popular among those who have voted in the People’s Wheels Awards.”

The Jaguar F-Type convertible was joined this year by its coupé counterpart, including a high-performance R model. More exciting F-Type news is imminent as Jaguar returns to its performance roots, attracting younger and new customers to the brand.

Winners in the People’s Wheels Awards are chosen by the public, via an online open vote. This year 132 finalists competed in 22 categories, ranging from entry-level models to desirable luxury cars.
