Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé Zenith Collection and Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé Zenith Collection
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced that the Rolls-Royce Phantom is entering the final phase of its production lifecycle in 2016. The Phantom Coupé and Phantom Drophead Coupé convertible will end their lives with a special edition of only 50 cars called Phantom Zenith Collection.
The current Rolls-Royce Phantom started its life in 2003 as the Phantom sedan, joined by the longer Phantom Extended Wheelbase in 2005, and later supplemented by the 2-door versions: Drophead Coupé in 2007 and Coupé in 2008.
In November 2016, the build of the very last Phantom Coupé and Phantom Drophead Coupé will have been completed.
With collective tears of automotive sadness, neither the Coupé nor Drophead will be repeated. As the Wraith and Dawn are now the coupé and convertible top-end motor cars from Rolls-Royce, could it mean these Phantom 2-door cars appeared once and will not be re-imagined… with a glimmer of hope, does it mean these will change names for the next generation, as per Rolls-Royce tradition?
Zenith Collection details
The Phantom Zenith Collection, as its name promises, “will be the pinnacle; the best of its kind; the highest standard achievable by which everything else is judged” comments the Director of Design. “It will be the sum of all the best features of Phantom Coupé and Drophead Coupé, with a few surprises added. We expect huge demand for these 50 fine cars as we shall not look upon their like again.”
Such surprise features include a Tailgate Hosting Area, laser-etched maps in the armrests, depicting the original launch locations of the Phantom concept cars, being 100EX in Villa D’Este at Lake Como, Italy, and 101EX in Geneva, Switzerland… and, of course, the Goodwood Estate in Southern England, where Phantom build took place.
Special treatment will be applid to the Spirit of Ecstacy radiator grille figurine. Each customer will receive a “money cannot buy” portable memo of their purchase. These cars will be ready to be commissioned (you never simply buy a new Rolls-Royce) in a selection of memorable colour combinations from Rolls-Royce’s history.
A memorable Phantom Coupé and Drophead Coupé touch includes the rear-hinged doors which close with the push of a button.
The Phantom Coupé had a Starlight Headliner – a “constellation” of 1600 fibre-optic lights creates the impression of a star-filled night sky.
The Phantom Drophead Coupé could be specified with a Brushed Steel package (where the windscreen frame and bonnet V is brushed steel) and Teak Decking (where the convertible roof rear cover was in real wood). Oh, and a picnic boot allowed a wood-floor to slide in and out, complete with built-in champagne flutes, where a picnic could be served and enjoyed.

The current Rolls-Royce Phantom sedan and Phantom Extended Wheelbase limousine sedan will also end this year, though a new aluminium-structure Phantom will arrive in-market from early 2018.
