Renault Clio is facelifted with new look and tech
New look
Renault has refreshed its popular Clio range by giving it a facelift, bringing styling, equipment, powertrain and quality improvements to its 4th-generation strong-selling hatch.
The Clio was the first car to bear the brand’s new styling identity when released released to market in 2012. Now, for 2016, the Renault diamond grille has been redesigned, though the most visible change is seen in the new full-LED Pure Vision headlights.
For a cleaner fresher look, the front bumper gets the new L-shaped inserts (with chrome on some models) and around the back, new more defined taillight graphics (using less red, and more clear-lense for the reverse and rear indicators).
Improved trim and more engines
Clio now benefits from finishing-materials previously reserved for higher-end Renault products, with new attention given to visual and tactile trim.
New engine options include a dCi 110 diesel and a TCe 120 – the engine choices for South Africa have not been indicated, though it is likely that Clio will continue with its pioneering 898cc (the smallest in this size car) 3-cylinder 66kW turbo engine alongside other drive options.
Tech smart
Additional infotainment options in the Renault Clio facelift sees 3 new connected multimedia systems: smart R&GO, Media Nav Evolution, and Renault R-Link Evolution. Clio also becomes the first car in its segment to offer the Bose high-end sound option.
New front parking sensors become available (currently only rear sensors are optional on local Dynamique and GT-Line models) and Handsfree Parking allows the driver to delegate parking.
The Clio facelift is set to arrive in SA within about half a year.
