With the Range Rover Evoque receiving its mid-life facelift last year, and having just celebrated 5 years of Evoque production, the first special edition of the Evoque facelift is entering South Africa:  the Range Rover Evoque Ember special edition.

The distinctive design of the Evoque has captured the hearts of people all over the world, but more creativity was applied in creating a special edition that is perhaps the most head-turning Evoque model of all:  the roof and the lower-bumper inserts (tow-eye finishers) are in Firenze Red, contrasted with the Santorini Black body.  We have seen a red-roof Rangie before on the Evoque NW8, but why has nobody thought of painting the usual grey bumper inserts red… well, now someone has, and it is called the Ember.

The optional Black Pack is also specced as standard on the Ember, adding the gloss-black wheels, darkened headlamps and taillights, and black exhuast finishers.

The premium interior materials are in Ebony (black) Oxford leather with – especially for the Ember – Pimento (red) contrast stitching and mats with red bordering.

Why Ember?

The word ember is defined as a glowing coal… the red roof and bumper inserts against the black indeed mimic the red-black colours of hot coals, so Ember is a suitably-descriptive name for this limited model.  They had to throw a pun in there: “The Ember Special Edition is designed to ignite the senses”.

Prices?

Based on the Evoque 5-door HSE Dynamic model’s spec, the Ember price is approximately R50k more, which includes the R 33 600 cost for Black Pack and R 1 600 for the upgrade to the Premium mat set with edging, so the actual price difference is just R15k for the red painted roof and bumper inserts, red stitching and the distinction of owning a special edition, making it great added value.
