Porsche Panamera Executive – the long wheelbase Porsche now available in SA

L for Executive

The large luxury sedan has for years been available in standard or more spacious long wheelbase bodies.  The Mercedes-Benz S-Class L, BMW 7 Series L, Jaguar XJ L and Audi A8 L all have an “L” denoting that this is the Long version.  Even Land Rover started doing this by offering the Range Rover in regular or Range Rover L with long wheelbase.

Porsche Panamera is not the traditional 3-box-shape 4-door sedan, though it has also been available in models built on a longer wheelbase than the normal-length cars.  Rather than L, as the others do, Porsche calls it Executive.

These were available for the previous (first) Panamera, though not brought in for the Southern African market.  With the new Panamera, Porsche SA will, for the 1st time, make available these longer Executive models, alongside the standard-length Panamera.

Executive gets executive spec

Not just the extended rear legroom and feeling of more spaciousness, but also more executive spec for the Executive-named Panameras.

Porsche looked & listened well from this class of car, giving the Panamera Executive the expected items like rear fold-down roof-hinged vanity mirrors, 2 separate formed seats for the rear-seat occupants, a seating position further back almost between the rear roof pillars.  The new Panamera Executive range is also equipped with various standard features including a large panoramic roof, heated comfort seats with multi-way electrical adjustment in the front and rear, as well as adaptive air suspension with an electronically controlled damper system (Porsche Active Suspension Management).  Roll-up sunblinds behind the headrests in the rear also come as standard.

The Panamera 4S Executive and Panamera Turbo Executive benefit from even more features, such as rear-axle steering and soft-close doors (servo-closing pull-shut door mechanisms).

Panamera Executive customers can choose from a range of optional equipment, such as the newly-developed large rear centre console which can also be equipped with 2 integrated folding tables, and an inductive antenna connection for an additional smartphone.

Apart from the additional length blended into the fastback Panamera body shell, the stylised-script Executive badge is applied on the rear haunches.  The exterior of the Executive versions can be further individualised with a Sport Design package.

If you want to do the long wheelbase and plug-in hybrid thing (quiet cruising with minimal disruption to your rear-seat ride / eco conscience / environmental pollution) Porsche obliges with the Panamera 4 e-hybrid Executive.

The Panamera turbo Executive is the one you’d want to arrive in at the hangar, to board your private jet… as illustrated so well here by the Porsche image.
