Petrol prices to increase again

Petrol prices to increase again

Author - Author

For a three straight months the price of fuel in South Africa risen and will rise again at midnight on Tuesday 4 July.

Embattled consumers will once again have to brace for significant increases as the fallout of the UK exit from the EU (European Union) still has the markets in turmoil.

As the UK voted to leave the EU the markets erupted into chaos, wiping out close to 3 Trillion dollars in wealth, this has had a devastating effect on the exchange rate as well as the cost of Brent crude and has sent prices spiraling.

The price of our fuel is calculated against the rand/dollar exchange rate and with increased costs and an increasing exchange rate there doesn’t seem to be an end to the increases any time soon.

Already struggling consumers can look forward to an increase of 11 cents per litre of petrol and 42 cents per litre of diesel.

We urge motorists to evaluate their driving habits and look into any and all fuel saving tips.
