Petrol price to increase at midnight 5 April
Petrol price to increase at midnight 5 April
The collective groans of South African motorists will once again be heard at midnight of 5 April 2015 as the costs of fuel will increase across the board.
Due to the increase of the crude oil price and recent implementation of new levies, hard-pressed consumers will be doling out a few more cents per litre. 95 Grade will increase by 88c while 93 Grade will go up by 86c in Gauteng.
The overall US Dollar price per barrel as well as the new fuel levy recently introduced by the Minister of Finance of 30c and an Inland Transport levy for the pipeline transport of fuel to Gauteng of 5.2c that was awarded by NERSA (National Energy Regulator of South Africa) added to the overall increase.
Economists said that it could have been a lot worse but the strengthening of the Rand against the Dollar eased the increase somewhat.
Here’s what motorists can look forward to paying for their fuel this week.
| Inland 95 |
R12.62 per litre |
| Inland 93 |
R12.32 per litre |
| Coastal 95 |
R12.14 per litre |
| Coastal 93 | R12.01 per litre |
Diesel will be increasing by 96c for regular and 98c for 50ppm.
Although the general financial outlook for many motorists feels grim the global outlook is looking considerably better, barring any unforeseen conflicts.
