Petrol price hike set for new year
As many South Africans return from their holidays, they will be greeted by a hike in the fuel price.
After a significant decrease in December, holidaymakers breathed a sigh of relief but as the international prices of crude and a still volatile exchange rate traded during the period under review, at midnight this Tuesday, January 3, 2017 motorists can expect an increase for all grades of fuel across the board.
All grades of petrol will increase with 93 Octane increasing with 50 cents while 95 Octane will increase by 48 cents and all grades of diesel will increase by 39 cents.
This was not the start to a new year that many motorists were expecting and at a time of year when many purse strings are stretched taut it is most unwelcome.
Motorists are advised to put fuel saving measures such as ride sharing into affect.
