Nissan finlaly unveils their addition to the Vision Gran Turismo line for 2020. This supercar is based on the Nissan R35 GT-R design.

To everyone’s delight Nissan finally unveiled their addition to the Vision Gran Turismo line for 2020. The much anticipated introduction has had supercar gaming fanatics positively drooling. The bonafide Batmobile lookalike seems to have the perfect balance between power, fantasy, engineering genius and style. Downright badass – if you ask me.

It seems that Nissan had purposefully held out on the unveiling of the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo Concept up until now, considering the fact that many other manufacturers as already unveiled their concepts in the past weeks. Nissan being more closely involved with the developer of the Gran Turismo game – Polyphony Digital - we would have expected an earlier reveal.

As part of the highly prized gaming franchise’s 15th birthday celebrations, they requested that automanufactures desi gn futuristic concepts which will be available for download to gamers everywhere in the form of online updates to Gran Turismo 6. Although this was just a styling exercise for most automaker design studios, Nissan’s Vision GT concept is whispered to be a tantatlising taste of the company’s next Halo model, namely the Nissan R35 GT-R. Judging by the images released, it seems that Nissan has significantly departed from their current R35 GT-R style wise, as the Vision GT is substantially more refined, with acute angles to exentuate a considerably lower-slung chassis.

Nissan’s chief planning officer, Andy Palmer, recently told a popular car magazine that the new GT-R will have more power, but will still remain relatively affordable considering all the components of the new model. Price plays a key role in the manufacturing of a supercar, however Andy insists on maintaining affordability whilst offering the maximum power for its price segment.

He also mentioned that that Nissan has registered the R-Hybrid trademark, meaning that it is very likely that the new GT-R  will house a hybrid system but may still weigh the same as the current R35 due to the use of lighter materials. This is an especially exciting prospect considering the other hybrids such as the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari.

Like other Vision Gran Turismo cars that came before it, this one will be available for download in Gran Turismo 6 come July. Although it seems to be more than just a video game car: Nissan says the Concept 2020 is "a vision of what a high performance Nissan could look like in the future."
