Volkswagen has a whole spread of commercial vehicle panel vans, ranging from Caddy to Transporter (now in generation T6) and the big Crafter.

VWCV has just shown design sketches of its new Crafter, intended to look more like a big brother to the T6.

Designed with customers

The new Volkswagen Crafter is a completely new vehicle.  The company reveals that experts at Volkswagen Commercial vehicles have worked closely with current customers, frequently accompanying them during their daily routines, to explore their needs and find out their visions of what they wanted the new Crafter to become, allowing them to help shape the new generation Crafter.

This “Designed with customers” approach is now seen in the function and design of the new full-size panel van.  In the commercial vehicle sector, design simply has to work for lots of customer groups, where usability counts for more than looks, though VW clearly incorporates both visual and functional in one.  Including the VW family face grille, lights and straight design lines + optimum cargo space… this is what the new Crafter aims to achieve.

VW concludes: “With the Crafter, a level of surface quality, robustness and at the same time high qualitative value are achieved that have never before been available in this commercial vehicle class.”
