Motoring Mayhem! North American International Auto Show Kicks Off in Detroit
It’s time for the 2016 Detroit Motor Show again, also known as NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) and starting from today, lovers of all things motoring will be able to sink their teeth into a plethora of exciting concept cars, such as the Kia Telluride, Kia’s full-size luxury SUV. And if the Yanks call something full-size, it must be big. Some images have been teased by Kia, and it looks rather interesting. With a cabin that promises to be chock full of “health and wellness” technology, we can’t wait to see what futuristic electronics they have in store.
But not all the brands will be there to show off their latest works of automotive art, like California-based Tesla and a few British manufacturers such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Bentley and MINI. Still, there will be plenty of other brands’ latest offerings to get excited about, such as Volvo’s new executive sedan, the S90, and Mercedes-Benz latest generation E-Class, as featured at the CES electronic trade show held in Las Vegas earlier this month. Another show stopper will be Volkswagen’s Tiguan GTE Active Concept, which is not only dressed to the teeth in off-road gear, but uses two electric motors and a petrol engine. It can supply all four wheels with power, either automatically or by pushing a button. It will offer supreme off-road performance, even in all-electric mode. After the VW emissions scandal, a plug-in hybrid model is probably just what the doctor ordered for Volkswagen, which will be launching an array of new products worldwide.
Brand-spanking new Genesis (Hyundai’s freshly launched luxury brand) will be presenting it’s very first set of wheels, the G90 Sedan. Of course there will be facelifts galore too, such as the Porsche 911 Turbo, Infiniti Q50 and the new Mercedes-Benz SLC - a replacement for the SLK.
Stay tuned, as the curtain is lifted from even more awe-inducing automotive marvels.
