Mercedes-AMG C63 coupé and C63 S coupé – high-performance models join the still-fresh C-Class coupé?
Mercedes-AMG C63 coupé and C63 S coupé – high-performance models join the still-fresh C-Class coupé?
Only a week ago the new C-Class coupé was shown. It is still fresh news. Following hot on its heels are the AMG coupé pair – the Mercedes-AMG C63 coupé and C63 S coupé.
A further landmark… and a new benchmark?
The Mercedes-AMG coupé lineage is now bolstered by the arrival of its new twins. The previous Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG coupé gives way, superseded by the hot Mercedes-AMG C63 coupé, and even hotter Mercedes-AMG C63 S coupé (as pictured in this article). These are new products in the illustrious landmarks from AMG. These now join the big AMG S-Class coupé models, and in looks, slot in nicely.
The Mercedes-AMG C63 coupé and C63 S coupé will take on the likes of BMW M4, Audi RS5, Jaguar F-Type and Porsche Cayman. Will the new AMG cars be the new benchmark?
V8 bi-turbo for sportiest C-Class
The same V8 bi-turbo engines (as evident on the front fender V8 BITURBO badges) from the new C63 sedan and C63 S sedan are perfect for the coupés’ sporty bodies.
350kW and 650Nm for the C63 coupé and 375kW with 700Nm should be, erm, enough for these sportiest C-Classes ever. Performance claims are 4.0 and 3.9, per model, and limited to 250 km/h top speeds, or 290 km/h with the AMG Driver’s Package.
Visual differences
Larger wheel arches, AMG wheels, side air intakes, aggressive frontal part (and get-out-of-the-fast-lane presence), trademark quad angled exhausts, rear air diffuser… these make for an attractive AMG look.
