Laz Performance – Roush and Mountune on your doorstep.

Consumers are connected. Not as much to each other, as they are to the internet. This means that the role of the salesman and the retail store has had to change over the past few years. Consumers are more educated and more aware of current pricing trends than ever before.

It’s for this reason that the standard retail concept needs to be modified, and in no industry more important than that of aftermarket motoring and accessories.

With the recent launch of the Focus RS, we also saw the introduction of Ford Performance to South Africa. While this just eluded to the arrival of the associated brands, it was only recently that we saw the unveiling of the first retail option.

Laz Performance is an aftermarket accessory and Ford performance vehicle boutique store, and if that sounds a little strange, trust me, it is. At first.

Situated in Grey Owl Village, Centurion, Laz Performance is unlike any other accessory store that we’ve seen locally. It’s open plan layout and kiosk-style vendor huts challenge the traditional retail concept.

Each of the brands on sale are given their own area, individual staff and dare I say, theme. While it is all interlinked, you can walk in an browse through the Würth tools and consumables and be blissfully unaware of the Ironman 4x4 accessories right next door.

Inside the Laz Performance building, you will find the associated brands like Onca, Photowise, Ironman, Sparco, Thermo-Tec, Schroth, OMP, Racelogic, Keko, Mickey Thompson, K&N, Unichip, Wrap My Ride, Würth, Castrol, Ford Apparel and of course a host of performance companies as well; Ford Performance Parts, Laz Performance catering for Mountune and the big one, Roush.

You read correct; Roush. The company synonymous with fast road and race Fords, is available locally through Laz Performance. This particular area of the building is especially impressive with exhaust systems, intake systems, wheels, suspensions and superchargers on display for you to admire.

The building also houses a state-of-the-art Dyno room with an access window so that customers can watch the tuning process from the safety of the canteen area – that right, you can grab a snack or a drink at the café inside Laz Performance.

Aside from the astounding retail experience and offerings, Laz Performance offers advice and solutions for your Ford Performance requirements. You will also be able to order and purchase conversions for either your Mustang, Focus RS, ST or Fiesta ST.

The Roush conversions on the 2.3 EcoBoost Mustang starts with the Level 1 which bumps the power from 233kW to around 365kW by upgrading the intake, exhaust and software. It includes some Roush detailing so that passers-by know that your Mustang is special. Retail is R120 000 for the conversion.

Level 2 bumps the stock power to around 280kW and includes even more cosmetic detailing such as a hood scoop, rear spoiler, quarter panel scoops, rocker winglets, rims and tyres, and Roush branding. Priced at R300 000.

On the 5.0 GT, the R120 000 Level 1 upgrade boosts the power from 306kW to 330kW with the standard fare of intake, exhaust and software. Similar Roush branding is included as you would get with a 2.3 Level 1 upgrade.

In a similar fashion to the 2.3 Level 2 kit, the looks of a Level 2 5.0 GT conversion is vastly improved, but the real fun sits with the Level 3 upgrade. This will set you back R300 000.

Level 3 is the ultimate package. It includes a Roush Supercharger, adjustable coilover kit and all the associated cosmetic changes one would want when dealing with a supercharged beast.

The power is hiked from the stock 306kW to a mammoth 500kW. This is the ultimate Roush offering, for the individual who refuses to accept anything less than the best. This conversion will however set you back a hearty R650 000.

The best part of all of the conversions is that they will not void your standard Ford South Africa warranty – that’s right, these are Ford Approved conversions. In addition, Roush offers a 3yr / 60 000km comprehensive drivetrain warranty.

There are naturally terms and conditions, mainly that booking is essential and that your Mustang must have less than 10 000km on the odometer.
