Land Rover Range Rover wins at People’s Wheels Awards

• Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport remain in SA demand
• Continued innovation responsible for desirable new models
• Winners determined by public voting process

Pretoria, November 2014 – Two Land Rover models have been awarded with category wins in the 2015 People’s Wheels Awards, announced this morning at Montecasino, Johannesburg.

The Range Rover Evoque was voted most popular in its category, Premium Class SUVs and Crossovers. In its third year on sale the stylish Evoque has remained in demand – and continues to be popular with buyers. As one of the most-awarded vehicles currently on sale, this year marks its third successive category win for Evoque in the People’s Wheels Awards that includes overall honours in 2013.

Another winner in the stable is the Range Rover Sport, which won in the Luxury SUVs and Crossovers category. Like the Evoque, this marks the third straight year that the Range Rover Sport has won this award, albeit across two generations of the SUV. Packed with the latest technology and boasting lightweight aluminium construction, it is ever a Land Rover. Range Rover Sport boasts dynamic capabilities on the road, with a selection of powerful engines, while retaining the brand’s hallmark off-road capabilities thanks to Terrain Response II.

 “The people have spoken, and it’s clear that both the Evoque and Range Rover Sport are favourites – not just among the general public as an aspiration, but also for those actively buying them,” said Richard Gouverneur, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. “Monthly sales for both models remain strong; especially noteworthy for the Evoque, which enters its fourth year of production.”

The Auto Annual People’s Wheels Awards are backed by Standard Bank and TNS, with winners being voted for by the public. This year more than 60 000 people voted for winners in 22 different categories.
