Range Rover Evoque Ember Special Edition

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque facelift is getting its first limited-run model, called the Ember Special Edition.

The red and black themed Ember showcases Evoque’s bold design, built on the attributes of the HSE Dynamic specification.  The Firenze Red roof contrasts with the Santorini Black.  The intensity of these contrasting colours were picked to really show off the Evoque’s stand-out proportions.

For the first time, the tow eye covers are painted in red, rather than the usual silver/grey colour.  Tow eye covers in Land Rover speak refer to not just the little covers that close the tow eyes but the actual bumper trim inserts – the upside-down wide-V shape in the front, and the underbody guard in the rear bumper.

Adding drama to the Ember are selected elements from the standard Black Pack (to replace silver and chrome – usually an option pack available on certain Evoque models) with elements including Satin Black alloy wheels, gloss black exhuast finishers, Narvik Black grille, and darkened front and rear lamp clusters.

A smart detail touch is the addition of a unique silver surround for the EVOQUE tailgate badge.

The Ember black&red theme continues with Ebony Black seats with contrasting Pimento Red stitch, and a premium mat set in black and red, while the interior trim finishes are in Gloss Black.

InControl Touch Pro

What is it?  Replacing the current touch-screen interface is the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system which provides faster responses and a more intuitive operation, meaning more like the smart phone touch screens and tablets we have become accustomed to, allowing swipe, pinch zoom, and pan.  The InControl Touch Pro is on a clearer 21:9 super-wide format, with 1280x542 pixel resolution.

Getting really smart for practical purposes is the Land Rover Route Planner app, which lets you pre-plan destinations (as we often do inside home/office before we go to the car) and sync to your Evoque.  It also offers door-to-door navigation, handing over the app interface from car to phone app, to display public transport and walking directions to the arrival destination.

A great safety feature most of us have needed is included in InControl Touch Pro is the ETA notification.  Running late and needing to notify your partner / family / friend / attendee / colleague, but as you are driving you cannot (must not!) text or try find a phone number?  There’s an app for that.  This clever new in-car system can automatically keep them informed of your ETA (Expected Time of Arrival) by sending updates via sms.  How amazing is that!?
