KIA Motors South Africa to unveil 2 new models at the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show

(South Africa) – It has been a very busy year for Kia Motors South Africa (KMSA) so far. The year kicked off with the company opening it first solar-powered dealership in Weltevredenpark on 19 February 2013. March was followed by the introduction of 2 new vehicle derivative launches, the updated Sorento and the new Optima GDi. On 22 May 2013, KMSA launched the all new Cerato sedan and this vehicle has proven a worthy successor to the previous generation Cerato and a very competitive offering in its segment.

The second half of 2013 looks to be as exciting as the first, with another two vehicle launches planned for the year. KMSA will be unveiling the new Cerato Hatch as well as the all new Cerato 2-door Koup at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show. The Cerato hatch will offer the consumer a sportier and more compact driving experience, while its specification level will be similar to that of the sedan version.

The big news is the all-new Cerato Koup. Its swooping roofline and large wheels give this vehicle an athletic and aggressive stance while the swept-back headlights with built-in LED lights add to it sportiness. At the front, the Koup is highlighted by a bold and muscular fascia, while tapered LED rear combination lamps and a twin chrome-tipped exhaust add to its high-tech image at the rear. The biggest change however, lies under the bonnet. The new Cerato Koup will feature a brand new 1,6-litre GDI turbocharged four-cylinder engine which produces 152 kW at 6 000 r/min and 264 N.m of torque between 1 750 and 4 500 r/min.

“We are very excited to be able to finally offer the first of hopefully many turbo engines into the local Kia line-up. The Cerato Koup has been a great success story for Kia as far as 2 door models are concerned, but now the Koup gets some extra horsepower to do justice to its great looks and presence on the road !“, comments David Sieff, National Marketing Manager Kia Motors South Africa.

KMSA is also planning fun activities on its stand, and will be doing a live broadcast of the KIA Take40 SA chart show on Saturday morning 19 October 2013. The show will feature exciting give-aways and interviews with celebrities, including KMSA’s brand ambassadors Danny K, Kabelo Mabalane and the newly signed pop group Micasa.

“Kia looks to the JHB International Motor Show as a show piece for our products where people can compare us with our peers in one exhibition environment. Its a great way to understand how well we stack up against the other brands, but its also about having fun at the show by engaging with our brand ambassadors and chatting to our energetic and passionate Kia staff”, Sieff concludes.
