Infiniti QX70 armoured car
Many of us are familiar with the idea of an armoured vehicle to transport the wealthy and VIPs.
These bullet-proof vehicles are designed to protect their important occupants from attacks, where ammunition is used to shoot at the vehicle, be it to stop the vehicle or to abduct or kill the human targets or their valuable possessions. This doesn’t happen only in movies! When you need real-life protection when driving or being driven (whether for private or business use, for yourself and your family) you need an armoured car.
The trick is to have the armoured car as subtle as possible, as one would clearly not want to advertise the fact that your car is protected. The grades of protection differ, depending on the amount of armour fitted, based on how serious the protection you need – from hand-held gun or automatic rifle, up to bomb-proof and fire resistant!
The luxury German brands each have their own dedicated factory-designed products of armoured cars you could buy through a discreet sales contact: Mercedes-Benz Guard, BMW Protection and Audi Security, while other luxury drives of the rich include “safe” Range Rovers, Jaguars and the like.
So, if you want something different from the obvious and perhaps ostentatious luxury cars, you can now have an Infiniti QX70 armoured car. Their biggest vehicle is the QX70 large SUV, which can now be converted to an armoured car in B4 or B6 armouring grade. The QX70 has such a big mean face and squinty eyes – it already appears aggressive and get-out-of-my-way intimidating… but done in style.
If you can afford it, you can protect yourself and your family. This is what the Infiniti QX70 armoured car offers:
12 areas to give you total peace-of-mind:
1. Reinforced bumper
Dual ram bumpers (front and back) are concealed behind both the front and rear bumpers allowing the vehicle to ram its way out of a dangerous situation. This modification prevents the corners of the vehicle from being rammed into the tyres, and rendering the vehicle un-drivable.
2. Battery
The original battery is replaced with an Optima dry cell battery or the battery compartment is armoured.
3. Electronic Control Module (ECM)
ECM is armoured to prevent the vehicle’s computer and electronic controls from being disabled in the event of an attack.
4. Firewall
Armoured to prevent frontal shots from penetrating the vehicle interior.
5. Windows
All glass is replaced with LTA bullet resistant glass, contoured to match the vehicle’s original glass.
6. Roof protection
Armoured with Armormax ballistic composite material.
7. Door pillars and posts
The Elitus overlap system ensures complete protection.
8. Door and backwall
Armoured with lightweight Armormax composite armour.
9. Reinforced door hinges
Where needed, heavy-duty hinges and over extension straps are added.
10. Tyres
Its run-flat tyres allow the vehicle to travel up to 100 kilometres at 100 km/h on deflated tyres (depending on road conditions).
11. Reinforced suspension
When needed, high-pressure heavy duty shocks, HD Torsion bars, polyurethane bushings as well as upgraded callipers, discs and brake pads are added to ensure good handling.
12. Floor protection
The floor of the vehicle is lined with a multi-layered ballistic nylon armour that is form fitted to the contours of the base of the vehicle. It is designed to absorb hand grenade, IED and mine fragments.
