Fuel price hike alert
Fuel price hike alert
On top of the biggest ever fuel price increase in April, a statement released by Department of Energy announces a further increase, effective tonight 02 June 2015 at midnight.
Petrol (all octane grades and lead-types) will rise by 47 cents per litre in retail price, while the wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05% sulphur content will be 49c/l higher, and 0.005% diesel 46c/l more expensive*.
If your petrol car uses 8 litres per 100km on average per tank, this means the 47 c/l increase is R 3.76 more per 100km, which may not sound like much, but if you drive 2000 km per month as the average South African car does, it is R75.20 per month, equaling R902.40 per year you need to pay extra.
