Countdown to Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible begins – preview wireframe cars in London

Land Rover has confirmed it will, after all, start building the Evoque Convertible.  It announced this by installing life-size Evoque Convertible wireframe car sculptures in London.

Yes, Evoque Convertible is finally on!

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, or simply Evoque to most of us, has been a runaway success.  These ultra-stylish compact SUVs, available in 5-door and uniquely in large Coupe form, have been with us for a few years.  Now the much-anticipated Convertible will be added. 

Finally, it is on!  Having shown the Convertible as a concept car at Geneva back in 2012 already, the roof-less Evoque seemed to become another one-off concept car, with 3 years passing having axed the idea in many people’s minds.

Evoque Convertible wireframes installed in London

Choosing the locations carefully, the world-famous Harrods store in Knightsbridge and notable addresses in Mayfair were deemed suitable to indicate the likely spots Evoque Convertible owners would frequent, “reflecting their refined and luxurious lifestyle”.

Following on from the original Evoque launch campaign which also used wireframes to tour the world, the Evoque Convertible wireframe units stopped Londoners in their tracks, where passersby were amazed by these full-scale wire “cars” in bright colours.

A great idea, which reminds of the wireframe toy cars so many boys played with.

A return to the original Land Rover – a convertible SUV

Of course, one at first may think of an SUV 4x4 convertible “what is this strange new idea?”… but actually, just look back at the original Land Rover – it was a convertible SUV (before the term was coined), as it was a 4x4 without a roof.

Each of the 6 wireframes will begin their worldwide tour to showcase the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible.

Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible will be revealed in November 2015, with availability in early 2016.
