Positive electric charge
BMW continues to flow with the electricity theme – this time using the proton as a way to name this limited-edition i8: the proton being defined as a subatomic particle in the atomic nucleus with a positive electric charge.
BMW says the i8 Protonic Red Edition embodies sportiness and futuristic aesthetics. It certainly does look different to anything else on the road.
Protonic Red
Rather than just the safe electro-named colour palette of white, silver and grey, BMW recently started adding yellow and green and purple as the i8 Individual. The BMW i8 – now available in Protonic Red.
With specific highlights in Frozen Grey metallic on the BMW i kidney grille and at the rear and 20-inch W-spoke alloy wheels in Orbit Grey, the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition catches the eye even when it’s standing still and “offers a clear foretaste of what will happen once it gets going”.
Inside the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition, top-quality workmanship meets elegant sportiness, adding touches of subtle red to the i8 inner parts: the door sill finishers get Protonic Red Edition lettering, the dark NESO seats are in woven dark red, and the headrests are embossed with the BMW i8 logo. The interior trim with carbon-fibre strips and a ceramic-trim gear shift lever create a high-tech sports car atmosphere. These design elements, combined with the classic driver orientation console, make for even more style and even more driving pleasure.
The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition is available to order from your BMW i dealer in SA, in spring season, as a strictly limited edition.
