Bentley Continental Supersports – Bentley now with super(car)powers
Whereas the Bentley Continental has become known as the consummate GT (Grand Tourer) car, the new 2nd modern-day iteration of the Continental Supersports has just been added to the Bentley product offering. With it, this new Supersports now has super(car)powers.
Most powerful and fastest Bentleys to date
Bentley announced its most powerful and fastest pair of production cars to date. How much is most powerful? The W12 turbo engine could never be called lazy, putting out 434kW in the “standard” GT W12, 467 (since its power upgrade) in the GT Speed, so the Supersports crosses the 500kW only-top-supercars line with 522kW, or 700bhp in Imperial speak. If 720 or 820Nm is not enough for your Continental, how about 1017Nm, spread thickly and smoothly across 2050-4500 r/min?
How much is fastest? For the Bentley Continental Supersports coupé: 0-100 in 3.5 seconds, reaching 336km/h.
The Bentley Continental Supersports convertible goes 3.9 and 330, which makes this soft-top sibling the fastest 4-seater convertible car… in the world.
Redeveloped
The mighty (Bentley’s adjective) W12 engine was redeveloped with new high-performance turbos and engine hardware.
A torque vectoring system creates a Continental Supersports as agile as it is powerful.
To rein in all this kinetic energy from 2.3 to 2.5-ton car, without occupants, the brakes are standard-fit high-performance carbon ceramic discs, with enhanced cooling. Wheels are 21-inch.
The exhaust system has been fettled to breathe more freely, to provide the unmistakable Bentley W12 soundtrack, with down-shifts issuing a “rifle-fire crackle”. A titanium exhaust is optional.
Unique styling
Unique styling cues inside and out give the new model a sharpened appearance, highlighting its performance prowess.
There is no sacrifice in the ride quality or refined nature – it may have supercar power, but has to stay true to being a Continental. This fusion of extremes in luxury and power make the dominant grand touring player the new ultimate iteration.
A unique interior colour-split has been created: for the first time in this generation Continental, a tri-tone interior is offered.
You can also have the dashpanel trim in a diamond-check pattern… just like your mansion’s entrance hall floor tiling.
The exterior can be ordered in X Specification pack, which includes a choice of 8 unique duo-tone paints.
