Auto Bild Sports Car of the Year 2014: Two first places for Mercedes-AMG

Stuttgart/Affalterbach.  Readers of the "Auto Bild" car magazine have voted two models from Mercedes-AMG "Sports Car of the Year 2014". The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Edition 1 came out top in the compact production cars category, while the Mercedes-AMG GT S won the series-production super sports car class.

Readers were invited to choose their personal favourite sports car from among 143 candidates. The poll crowned two models from Mercedes-AMG "Sports Car of the Year 2014". The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Edition 1 was first across the finishing line in the compact production cars segment. And the Mercedes-AMG GT S was flagged up as the best series-production super sports car.

The special CLA 45 AMG Edition 1 model, which is available for a limited period, appealed to readers with its exciting looks and came up trumps with its four-cylinder engine rated at 265 kW and its performance-orienteered 4MATIC AMG all-wheel drive.

The GT S, an in-house development by Mercedes-AMG, provides an excellent basis for a highly dynamic driving experience with its front mid-engine concept and intelligent lightweight aluminium design. The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine comes in two output ratings, the more powerful variant generating 375 kW for genuine race-track performance in the GT S.
